Pro-life or Pro-choice

One of the biggest issues facing the church today is abortion.  In my privous post I mention that this would be coming.  Well here it is.  In our contemporary issues class we talked about this for two class periods.

Here are some interesting things that I learned about abortion:

 Demographics

  • 56% are in their 20s

  • 61% have on or more children

  • 67% have never been married

  • 57% are economically disadvantaged

  • 88% live in a metropolitan area

  • 78% report a religious affiliation

  • Black women are 4x as likely to have an abortion than white women & Hispanic women are 2.5x as likely

  • 43% identify themselves as Protestant

  • 2/3 of abortions are of unmarried women

  • Abortion Totals (unless specified the totals are for America Only)

    • 44.5 million (since 1/22/73)

    • 1.5 million (per year)

    • 4,100 (daily)

    • 180 (hourly)

    • 1 out of every 67 deaths in the world

    • 1 out of every 4 deaths in America

    • Abortions out number the total fatalities of all 12 wars America has participated in COMBINED!!

    • ½ of the world’s deaths are abortions!

Is the unborn child a human life

  • At concemption, the entire genetic make-up fo the child is in place

  • by day 22, the heart beats with the child’s own blood

  • week 5 – develoment of eyes, legs, feet

  • week 6 – detectable brain waves

  • week 8 – every organ is in place

  • weeks 9/10 – teeth form, baby can turn head, frown

  • week 11 – baby can grasp objects, organs are functional, fingerprints exist, as well as nerves

  • week 12 – end of first trimester, baby has everything it needs to experience pain.

  • Week 17 – babies dream

The Christian’s Responsibility

  1. Pray

  2. Evangelize

  3. Educate (yourselves and others)

  4. Involve yourself in legal activism

  5. Support pro-life efforts financially

  6. VOTE for pro-life candidates

Demographic Winter

It has been a while since my last post and for that I apologize. I have been extremely busy. I was able to go home for my brother’s wedding and as a result got behind in school work. It was well worth it. Classes and the school work was able to be made up, but missing my brothers wedding would not be able to be made up. Since then I have been able to get ahead in my school work.

The main purpose of this post will touch on various subjects. Please read. Please view the video in its entirety. This video was played in our Contemporary Issues class here at Word of Life. Yesterday, the lecture was about abortion. This is a touchy issue. Is one pro-life or pro-choice? Do you why you are either pro-life or pro-choice? The classes have enlightened me very much it some of the key facts. This post is not to dive into those issues, but another one will follow dealing much more in depth. But the most interesting thing that was shared in this class was the video that I am going to talk about. This video was produced to educate people about the “Demographic Winter” that the human population is facing. This video is not produced by Christians or any other religious groups.

At the end of this video there are some most interesting conclusion that are made by these social scientists. They in result of their findings question evolution and religion. They lean away from evolution and towards religion. They address many issues without actually talking about them. In my opinion they are trying to be politically correct but are afraid to go against what the main stream way of thinking is. Please watch this video and share with others what you think they are hinting towards.
